22.04.2024: Thomas Hitzlsperger visits DSL

A high-profile visit for our school: former German international football player Thomas Hitzlsperger visited the DSL on 24 April 2024 in his role as the Federal Foreign Office's football ambassador for Euro2024. He was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Kingdom, Miguel Berger. A varied programme, consisting of sporting elements and a fascinating panel discussion about football, Euro2024, Hitzlsperger's commitment to tolerance and diversity in sport and society and his connections to the UK, made this afternoon a special experience for all age groups. In addition to an exciting friendly match involving pupils from different European nations, we witnessed the 1st DSL Torwand (Goal Wall) Tournament. During the panel discussion, our students impressed with well-researched, interesting questions and the guest managed to engage the audience with open, encouraging, thought-provoking and often humorous answers which further support his cause.
