Please note that due to the Pandemic and the fluid situation, not all of our pages and sections have been updated. For the latest and up-to-date-information please refer to the DSLWelcome section as communicated to our parents separately.
Dear Parents, dear participants,
There are a few options for last year's Bronze and Silver participants:
1.) Achievement Awards for students who complete the Volunteering, Skills and Physical Sections. The achievement award is not the full DofE Award. However, it honours the efforts and the success participants have proven in 3 out of 4 sections.
2.)Full Bronze Award: Completing Silver this year with expeditions will automatically complete last year's Bronze Award (if last year's Volunteering, Skills and Physical Sections have been completed)
3.) Full Bronze Award: Taking part in a Bronze qualifying expedition (I am currently looking at different options so the following still needs to be confirmed):
a) Run a separate Bronze qualifying expedition for last year's Bronze participants (Fr/Sat, sleep at home, May/June, organised and run by me (DSL)
b) Last year's Bronze participants take part in this year's qualifier. This would only be possible if the total number of participants is not to large and separation of year group bubbles is possible.
c) Last year's Bronze participants take part in this year's SILVER Practice expedition (FR/SAT/SUN, sleep at home, May/June, organised by Ben Bullen Adventures and me and run by Ben Bullen Adventures - our chosen external provider for the last few years, separation of year group bubbles would be possible, costs would be a bit higher, c. 100 GBP higher than a)or b).
As soon as I know if 3a), 3b) or 3c) is possible, I will let you know.
In the meantime, it would be helpful if you could send me a short email if you are interested in any of the options 2. or 3.
4.) Full Silver Award:
a) Last year's Silver participants take part in this year's SILVER Practice expedition (FR/SAT/SUN, sleep at home, May/June, organised by Ben Bullen Adventures and me and run by Ben Bullen Adventures - our chosen external provider for the last few years, separation of year group bubbles would be possible.)
b) Run a separate Silver practice and qualifying expedition for last year's Silver participants (FR/SAT/SUN, sleep at home, May/June, organised by Ben Bullen Adventures and me and run by Ben Bullen Adventures)
Apart from that, the award, i. e. any section (expeditions with "open expeditions" run by other provider Achieving for children e. g.) can be completed up until the age of 24.
The costs consist of the following parts:
Training Course ca. 20
Expeditions ca. 120
(Training Course ca. 20 (if Bronze has not been completed))
Expeditions ca. 340 (depending on numbers of participants)
Costs for expeditions did not occur last year. If participants take part in expeditions this year, you will be invoiced for them.
