School Fees

General Terms and Conditions

Our Fees and charges are reviewed regularly and are subject to amendments from time to time. The parent contract and school policies apply.

Registration Fee

A registration fee of £500 is payable when the application form is submitted. The application can only be processed after receipt of the registration fee.

Deposit/Development Fund Payment

On acceptance of a place at school, a payment of £4,250 is due promptly for every new pupil. This consists of an acceptance deposit of £3,000 and a non-refundable £1,250 contribution to the School Development Fund. This Fund contributes to the maintenance and development of the school, including renovation and building projects and investment into IT infrastructure. If the deposit and development fund contribution are not paid within the required time, the place at the school is forfeited and the German School may offer the place to somebody else.

School Fees

School fees are set by the German School Association’s Board of Governors for the period of one school year. School fees for all year groups from Kindergarten to year 12 for the year 2024/25 amount to £10,420 for the full school year. For year groups from Pre-school to year 12 fees are payable in two equal installments each for the Winter Semester (15th August) and for the Summer Semester (15th January). For children in Kindergarten fees are invoiced termly in line with the current Government 15 free hours funding scheme.

A loyalty discount on school fees payable is applied in the following circumstances:
Families whose child has attended the school for more than five full academic years, receive a 15% loyalty discount on school fees for that child. Families with three or more children at DSL will benefit from receiving the 15% loyalty discount for the third child (and each subsequent child) immediately from the first year at the school.

Other Fees and contributions
The Swiss Parents’ Association charges an additional amount of £390 to Swiss Parents for the provision of a Swiss Teacher. This is payable to the German School.
All parents are invited to become members of The German School Association. Membership fee is £25 per annum per person.

Ancillary Services and Extracurricular Activities
Afternoon programme for Kindergarten and Pre-School, extended school days, AGs and other extracurricular offers and ancillary services, such as books, excursions, cafeteria, school bus, etc., are being offered and will be charged separately. As a rule, where activities/services are quoted and booked per school- or half-year, those services cannot be cancelled. Exceptional cases may apply and you’ll find more details on the respective registration forms. The usual policies apply and students may be excluded from the activity in case of misconduct and non-compliance of rules and instructions. In such cases refunds will not be made. Ancillary services and extracurricular activities are exempt from any discounts.

Bursaries / Hardship Funds

The German School Association is committed to providing education to German-speaking children regardless of financial status, ensuring the continuity of education for deserving individuals.

To fulfil this commitment, we offer means‐tested bursaries for school fees only; these may be awarded at any point during a pupil's time at the School. In exceptional cases of unforeseen financial hardship, it is possible to apply for a reduction in school fees.

When assessing bursary applications, the School bases this on a comprehensive analysis of need, including all variables that contribute to a family's financial situation. The School will employ the services of a third party to undertake bursary assessments on its behalf.  As a rule, applications can only be processed after the pupil has been offered a place at the school and this has been accepted. The granting of a bursary is discretional, and each application is considered fully on its merits. Additionally, bursaries are subject to annual financial reassessment.

The thresholds for annual gross family income are:

▪ Families with one child at the school may qualify for a bursary if the income is below £62,000.

▪ Families with two or more children at the school may qualify for a bursary if the income is below £72,000.

The number of bursaries and school fee reductions we offer depends on the funds we have available. Where the number of applications exceeds the funds available, awards will be made on the basis of the assessments of the applicant’s needs. Parents may be required to make a contribution to the tuition fees according to assessed income.

The Commercial Director (matthias.krauss@dslondon.org.uk) is available to advise parents considering an application. Applications must be submitted by 1st June in order to be considered for the following school year.
